    IP Introduction

Newly hired social worker Hee-seol begins working at a community children’s center—the same kind of place she once attended as a child. Bright and passionate, she is determined to create a safe space for children carrying wounds of their own. The center director, Kang Yi-hyeon, is reserved and unsentimental, but the two share the same goal: helping the children live with a little less pain and a little more hope.

As Hee-seol faces the realities of school violence, neglect, and troubled families, she also confronts the limits of what one person can do. Yet by listening, staying beside the children, and taking small steps with them, she begins to discover how meaningful change can begin.

Drawing on the author’s experience running a community children’s center, this warm and vivid novel portrays vulnerable children, the social workers who support them, and the quiet ways people can become a source of light for one another.
